Xize is a little potato in the apocalypse. By day, he is nailed into a custom flowerpot to purify the soil. By night, he is strapped to a machine and drained of his energy.

When a tide of mutated beasts sweeps over the base, Xize is offered as a sacrifice to the legendary overlord, Muerlise.

They say he is a terrifying, eight-foot-tall monster who eats steel, leaving nothing alive wherever he goes.

But right now, the creature gently resting against the edge of his flowerpot is a round, chubby little finch, wrapping him in its wings and softly rubbing him with its tail feathers!!

“So you’re the little thing that can purify the soil?”

The finch’s beak lightly taps Xize’s tender sprout, and more glistening droplets bead at its tip...

Xize: QAQ~ Stop touching me, my spr-sprout is going to melt~

Muerlise’s nest is hotter than any flowerpot.

He gathers the richest soil he can find, then wraps the damp potato in his fluffy feathers late at night:

“Why are you trembling?” The finch pecks open the sprout he’s clutching. “Isn’t the water I give you comfortable, Overlord?”

Xize curls into the soil. “Your feathers are prickly and ticklish. A potato’s skin is very thin.”

So the next day, Xize stares in shock as the Overlord plucks himself nearly bald and presses his bare skin against him. “Is this more comfortable?”

With Xize so well cared for, his powers grow at a phenomenal rate. One, two, three...

More and more little potatoes sprout from the soil, snuggling up to Muerlise’s wings.

“Stop!” The little finch pulls Xize into his arms. “You’re the sweetest and cutest one. You’re the only one I want to kiss!”

Xize discovers that the terrifying overlord of legend is unexpectedly easy to appease.

The closer he gets to Muerlise, the faster Xize’s powers grow, until his purification range expands from a tiny patch of land to an area with no visible end!

The survivors affected by Xize’s power are overjoyed. They rush to the nest, longing to touch the little potato that can seep energy-rich nectar.

“Xize, look at me! I’m great at taking care of plants!”

“The soil purified by Xize can really grow food!”

The chubby little finch flies into a rage and knocks everyone away with a flap of his wing!

Muerlise gently pecks Xize’s tenderest sprout, leaving his mark. “Everyone, get out! This potato is mine, from sprout to root. The soil and flowerpot are mine too!”

“Even the energy Xize seeps out is all thanks to me watering him day and night!!”
