Improper Desires

The person Qin Song hates most is her stepmother. She seized Qin Song's family fortune, then openly chased after female celebrities after Qin Song's mother died, bringing shame on the Qin family.

So when her stepmother's plane crashed, Qin Song's first reaction was satisfaction. She brought people to smash up the funeral hall, determined to tear away this woman's hypocritical facade.

A woman in white knelt in the center of the hall. They said her name was Shu Xuan, a celebrated, award-winning actress, and her stepmother's "lover."

Shu Xuan turned around. Dressed in simple white, she had cried until the corners of her eyes were faintly red, making her seem all the more delicate and pitiful.

But Qin Song would never forget that this woman had once spent an entire night in passionate embrace with her.

Shu Xuan stood up, a good half a head taller than Qin Song. She looked down at her, reached out to pinch her chin, and gently brushed her thumb over Qin Song's lower lip. In front of everyone gathered to pay their respects, beneath the black-and-white memorial portrait, she spoke with lazy certainty:

"Nannan, try to take it easy. From now on, only your new mom can take care of you."

Qin Song stiffened all over.

This woman had first climbed into her stepmother's bed, then deliberately gotten close to her. It had all been intentional from the very beginning: deliberately appearing in front of her, deliberately teasing her, deliberately leaving her with nowhere to run. Now that her stepmother was dead, Shu Xuan had no reason to hold back anymore.

Qin Song gritted her teeth and shoved her away. "Aren't you afraid I'll tell everyone?"

Shu Xuan smiled. The faint redness at the corners of her eyes complemented her smile like peach blossoms beside a spring stream.

"Go ahead." She leaned close to Qin Song's ear, her voice as soft as a sigh. "Tell them your stepmother's lover bullied you until you cried every night?"

Qin Song jerked her head up.

Shu Xuan stepped back half a pace and offered her three sticks of incense again, her expression utterly innocent.

"Be good. Offer the incense."
