Something's Off About This Corn

Sister-in-law Liu had spent her whole life growing corn and was an expert at shucking it.

With her rough hands, she twisted and rubbed, and the outer leaves fell away with a crackle, revealing the golden kernels underneath. Then she tossed it into her pocket, and the ear of corn came off perfectly.

But today, after pulling apart millions of ears of corn, Sister-in-law Liu was hearing things. She kept feeling that someone was speaking right beside her ear. She supposed it was old age catching up with her.

But the harder she gripped it, the louder the voice became, making her skin crawl.

"Hey! That's indecent! My clothes!"

Liu Erying trembled as she looked at the ear of corn in her hand. Her other hand had just pulled off the husk wrapped around it.

The ear of corn spoke in a coy voice: "Now that you've taken it off, you have to take responsibility for me."

Ugh! What kind of disgusting thing is this? Am I possessed?
