After her grandmother's death, Liang Shuangyue takes over the guesthouse she left behind.
One stormy night, an unexpected guest turns up at the inn.
A flickering ukiyo-e sign, raindrops streaking the windowpanes, the howling wind, a young man soaked through and deathly pale, and features almost identical to those of the love she lost.
Together, these elements make the opening of a ghost story.
Liang Shuangyue's breathing and heartbeat both go completely haywire.

On a stormy night, Yan Sui's car breaks down, so he looks for a nearby guesthouse.
The owner is a young woman who looks at him strangely, with what seems like a deep, unforgettable love in her eyes, as though she might devour him whole.
She's far more attentive to him than to the other guests, making advances again and again. Irritated beyond measure, he turns her down every time.
She isn't embarrassed or annoyed. Her smile stays bright and gentle, and somehow makes his defenses crumble more with each passing day.
Naively, Yan Sui thinks they can spend the rest of their lives together. But before the bitter winter even arrives, her frequent "I really like you" inexplicably turns into "I don't like you that much."
She even tells him, "Yan Sui, don't think so highly of yourself."
Cold and harsh, as though she were hollow inside.
He thinks he must have done something wrong, until he finds the old photograph tucked away at the bottom of her drawer.
In the faded picture, she smiles at a boy.
And that boy looks almost exactly like Yan Sui at eighteen.
So she isn't heartless. She just never gave him her heart.
