[Pride and Prejudice] A Fashionable Lady

Caroline transmigrates to the early nineteenth century and becomes the younger daughter of a wealthy English merchant, with an older brother and sister.

In this world, women can barely get by. Her merchant father died young, leaving her a dowry, but it is nowhere near enough to cover her expenses for the rest of her life.

Her brother, Mr. Bingley, is a model trust-fund kid: if he can get paid while lying down, he certainly will not get up. His annual income of five thousand pounds makes him perfectly content, and his most important daily business is socializing. Serious work has nothing to do with him.

Caroline: ...Fine.

If she could lie around and earn five thousand pounds a year, why would she need anything else?

Fortunately, her brother is easygoing and lets her do whatever she wants.

So Caroline has him buy back the textile mill their father sold to an old friend, then asks him to find a way to acquire some land.

One day, her brother Charles Bingley brings home a handsome man, saying he's a new friend who can help them buy land. Her brother's friend is named Fitzwilliam Darcy.

Caroline: ???

That name is awfully familiar. Maybe it's just a coincidence.

Six months later, her brother tells her he has rented a place called Netherfield Park in Hertfordshire, and that the whole family will be spending the summer there to escape the heat.

Caroline: "..."

So it really is Pride and Prejudice... Well, since she's here, she might as well go and see for herself!

Reader's guide:

01. A sweet romance. Don't expect historical accuracy.

02. [Important] The canon couples are being broken up! This is a parallel world, so anything can happen. The heroine is independent and loves herself; she has done nothing to wrong anyone. There are countless great stories on Jinjiang. If you prefer the canon pairings, you can find a story that keeps them intact. It is better to respect one another's differences and live in harmony.

03. If I've made something clear in the blurb and you still click in just to make your presence felt, I won't be happy, and I might yell at you! I'm really fierce.jpg

Theme: Those who stand on their own and work hard are always loved.
