My Sheltered Young Husband Insists on Going to the Countryside

[The pampered young master moves to the countryside x The fallen nobleman finds himself falling in love]

Mo Ting, a young man cherished by the marquis's household in the capital, was as lovely as carved jade and as beautiful as someone in a painting.

After coming of age, matchmakers wore out the doorstep of the marquis's residence. The sons of the capital's powerful families all waited eagerly, hoping to win his favor.

But young Master Mo didn't give any of them a second glance. He swiftly turned down every proposal and did something that shocked the entire capital:

He packed up the ten miles of dowry goods prepared for him by the marquis's household, gathered a long procession of servants and carts, and headed straight for a poor mountain village to find Xu Xing, his long-forgotten "former" fiance.

Once, Xu Xing had been a refined and promising young nobleman of the capital. His golden match with Mo Ting had seemed made in heaven.

Then his family fell, and their world came crashing down. The once-noble young man became a commoner stripped of rank and burdened with the guilt of his family's crimes. He ended up in a mountain village, with nothing but the earth for company.

Xu Xing had long since buried the splendor of the past along with that marriage contract. His heart was still. All he wanted was a peaceful life on his little plot of land.

Xu Xing could never have imagined that the pampered young master, who should have been surrounded by luxury and doted on by countless people, would show up dusty from the road and stand on the ridge of the field he'd just turned over.

The youth had bright eyes and white teeth. His skirts fluttered in the breeze, and he carried an air of refinement and arrogance utterly out of place in the countryside. He spoke crisply:

"Xu Xing, I'm of age now. Come marry me."

Xu Xing: "???"

His hoe clattered to the ground, landing squarely on his foot.

He looked at the delicate young master before him, then at his own dilapidated thatched hut and the newly sprouted crops. For the first time in his life, he felt a fear beyond anything he'd ever known.

Good heavens, is this poor mountain village really a place you can live?
