Nothing on the Agenda Today but Catching Demons, No Yuanzi

Fanwu's eyes could see demons.

To avoid being treated as a freak, Fanwu went to great lengths to keep her secret under wraps. Then one day, her family ran into trouble because of a demon and went missing. To close the case, the authorities hastily picked a scapegoat.

Fanwu had nowhere to go. In her desperate state, she met a young man.

He had the elegant bearing of a crane or pine tree, yet wore a coarse Daoist robe. She was drawn to the sight of him sitting at a roadside stall and devouring bowls of noodles.

After noticing her watching him, he finished another bowl without even looking up. "Another two bowls, shopkeeper."

He paused, then pointed at Fanwu. "Give her one."

After he took her home, Fanwu discovered that he was a demon hunter. Every day, he risked his life in fights against demons.

Fanwu begged him, "Please save my family."

Without even glancing at her, the young man beckoned. "Five hundred taels. No guarantee they'll be alive."

Seeing Fanwu look at him, he grew a little impatient. "Demon hunters are people too. How are we supposed to support our families if we don't make money?"

"If you don't have money, I'll take your eyes instead," he said coolly. "Use them to identify demons and pay off your debt."

Fanwu blushed bright red.

So he'd saved her because he wanted something from her!

.

One day, Fanwu handed the young man the two taels of silver she'd earned.

He took it, then followed her longing gaze to the neighboring stall, bought a skewer of candied hawthorn, and held it to her lips.

"I was saving that money to pay you!" Fanwu's eyes widened.

"Li Fanwu."

The young man spoke coldly. "Don't be so pathetic. I can afford to feed that mouth of yours."

Who asked you to feed me! Fanwu huffed angrily, but her face turned even redder.
