A Jin is an inconspicuous maid, but lately she seems to have encountered something supernatural.
Though always timid, she has begun repeatedly dreaming that she is "cavorting with an immortal."
The immortal's hands are long and elegant, his shoulders broad and his waist narrow;
The immortal's voice is low and resonant, his restrained tones a delight to hear;
The immortal has remarkable stamina. A Jin starts things off, but can't control what comes next.
Not long after their dream tryst, the other party grows addicted to the pleasure and asks to meet her in real life.
Late at night, she nervously hides among the flowers and indeed hears footsteps.
When she cautiously peeks out, she immediately swallows her gasp.
What immortal? The person approaching is the household's legitimate eldest son, the aloof, ascetic third-place palace graduate who looks down on the world below!
After thinking it over again and again, A Jin still runs away.
He is cold-hearted and aloof, the Xiao family's favored son. She wouldn't even dare look at him from afar, let alone let him know that she had violated him again and again in her dreams.

Xiao Ke is naturally proud and aloof, the most elegant gentleman in all of Chang'an. Years of self-discipline and restraint have made him a man of perfect manners who never oversteps.
Yet on the very night he returned to the capital, he had a strange dream.
A delicate young woman. A dimly lit bedchamber.
The dream grows more outrageous by the day, and its vivid sensations leave him a complete wreck. Xiao Ke fails to restrain himself and suspects someone is using sorcery to control his dreams.
He pretends to give in, using their intimate moments as bait to catch the culprit and punish them once and for all. But when he arrives as agreed, he finds no one there.
Why didn't she come?
The cold, ascetic young nobleman caresses the girl's tear-streaked cheek in his dream and presses her: "Qingqing, are you afraid of being found out, or do you think I haven't done enough?"
"Do you like it this way? Or... this way?"
The girl bites her lip and refuses to answer. He says coldly, "Then we'll do it all."

One day, a flower delivery arrives at the greenhouse. A maid, nervous, accidentally drops and breaks a potted plant, then anxiously apologizes.
The person seated above doesn't even look up, merely saying calmly, "It's all right."
Her companions praise him in private, saying the third-place graduate is truly broad-minded, kind, and a gentleman.
After nightfall, A Jin tumbles to the floor, clutching her nightclothes around herself.
The elegant and distant third-place graduate from the daytime lifts her chin, entirely at ease, as if inspecting prey that has walked straight into his trap.
"Let's see what you're really capable of."
"Can you make me forgive you for desecrating your master, like you did in the dream?"
