After Being Offered to My Former Fiancé's Brother

[Decisive warlord x delicate, fussy, sickly beauty]

During the Battle of Xianju, the Wei army lays siege to the city for three months.

With supplies running out, the head of the Li family remembers that the ninth daughter of the family was once promised in marriage to the Wei family. The engagement was later called off when the Wei family fell into disgrace.

Three days later, Li Mi, a sickly girl who has been pampered at home for seventeen years, is dressed in finery and offered to the Wei heir, who holds the power of life and death in his hands.

He is the older brother of her former fiance.

The candles flicker in the tent. Wei Yan wears dark armor, his air of murderous severity enough to make anyone's legs go weak.

Ignoring everyone kneeling on the ground, Wei Yan uses the bloodstained sword he has carried for years to lift her pearl-adorned veil. His eyes are cold as ice.

"Ninth Miss Li, you are so delicate and precious. Back then, you abandoned my younger brother without a second thought. Why are you willing to lower yourself to marry me now, a traitorous rebel?"

Wei Yan leads his army into battle, taking Li Mi with him and treating her like a mere ornament.

At first, she often wakes in the middle of the night, her pillow wet with tears. She can still feel the icy touch of Wei Yan's blade at her throat from her dreams, while the coarse straw mat beneath her scrapes her tender skin.

Later, in a bedchamber with golden silk curtains and jade furnishings, Li Mi finds the medicine too bitter and throws a tantrum, refusing to drink it.

Wei Yan, the regent crown prince famed throughout the court and holding the power of life and death, softens his voice and patiently coaxes her.

"I've had the owner of the shop that sells the candied fruit you always liked back home brought to the palace, along with the best pastry maker in Yuzhou. What else would you like?"
