The Yan family goes bankrupt. Yan Ci is an unpampered illegitimate son born to an unloved concubine who died young. Because of his striking beauty, he nearly gets handed over as a concubine to Zhang, a bald, fifty-something-year-old rich man, to pay off the family's debts.

Luckily, he already knows the Yan family can't be trusted, and has managed to ensnare a fool named Xie Qingsong who obeys his every word.

"Qingsong, I know how you feel about me. I feel the same way about you... But never mind. In a few days, I'll be Zhang's concubine, not your young master anymore. I shouldn't say foolish things and ruin your future."

"You'll be my young master for the rest of your life."

With just a few words, Yan Ci fools the poor sap Xie Qingsong into running away with him.

The Yan family's universally despised third young master transforms into a man from the city, now the husband of a young man from the Xie family in Shiya Village.

Xie Qingsong thinks he must be going mad. He can't help caring about the third young master, who's overbearing, sharp-tongued, a compulsive liar, two-faced... The list of his flaws is endless. He cares so much that even when his contract expires, he still doesn't leave the Yan household.

The more he cares, the more tightly he hides his feelings. He's just a servant. Even if he leaves the Yan household, he'll only be a crude farmhand. How could he ever be good enough for the young master?

He wants to keep his feelings hidden, but the wicked young master sees right through him. He keeps stringing him along while looking down on him, teasing him like a dog.

Then the Yan family goes bankrupt, and the young master comes to him of his own accord. He knows the man is pretending to be weak and lying on purpose again, but he still can't help taking the bait.

Xie Qingsong takes the young master back to Shiya Village and worships him like a bodhisattva. And as he worships him, the bodhisattva's belly starts to swell.

"Xie Qingsong, are you trying to get yourself killed? Who said you could knock me up?"

The pregnant young master's true nature comes out, and he stops pretending. Xie Qingsong loves it, and gets even more "capable."
