Do Not Disturb the Idle Fish's Sweet Dreams

Springtime mulberry picking. A young, healthy nobleman got drunk and passed out in a mulberry grove. Nan Yang was passing by to pick mulberries. She muttered to herself, "You shouldn't pick up men from the roadside. They'll bring you bad luck." She poured a basin of water over his head and left. Three days later: The daughter of the town doctor, her face full of bashful joy, was taken away in a carriage. They said she'd saved a nobleman by the roadside and was being taken to the capital to enjoy a life of wealth. Nan Yang walked past holding a gardenia, completely unruffled. Summer lotus picking. Nan Yang was boating along a little river. As she shook a lotus pod with all her might, the familiar figure of a man was lying beneath a ravine once again. Nan Yang: "..." You rolled all the way down a steep hillside, and even your horse died, but you still didn't? As she rowed closer to take a look, the man woke up. Half-submerged in the water, he stared straight at her with pitch-black eyes. It was terrifying. Nan Yang decisively slapped him unconscious, dragged him to shore, filled her arms with lotus pods, then rowed home. Autumn chrysanthemum picking. Notices seeking someone covered the town's streets and alleys, offering a reward for a mulberry picker, or perhaps a lotus picker. She lived in the mountains and was often nowhere to be found. Nan Yang was in the capital. Shut away in a grand estate, she couldn't be bothered to do needlework. Her wedding day was approaching, and she was about to be married. A concubine-born daughter of a great clan, matched with the son of a minor official. Not as good as some, but better off than others. Winter picking... Winter flower picking. She was the flower being plucked. Someone hijacked her on the way to her wedding. A man she'd met only twice in her life stopped the bridal carriage and forcibly married her. Nan Yang: "..." Well, she was married now. What else could she do? She'd make the best of it. Even if her new husband was a madman, born vicious and bloodthirsty, and everyone around him met an early end, dying one by one beneath his blade... She'd live one day at a time and get through one day at a time. No one could stop her from lying down in peace. Not even her mad husband. The more she lay around... why was she still alive? The more she kept lying around... why was life getting better and better? Nan Yang: What did I even do?? [Reader's Guide] 1. Coming Soon: My Lord, May You Live Long Yun Zhen was a famous beauty in Feng'an County: radiant and charming, gentle and talented. Her only flaw was that she had a hard fate and brought death to her husbands. She had been married twice, and both of her husbands had died. Whenever Yun Zhen spoke of her late husbands, she silently shed tears. She only said she was unlucky and had been born at the wrong time. Fortunately, her late husbands had left her a great deal of property, enough to live on. Jing Feng, the marquis who had just conquered Feng'an County with his troops, happened to run into Yun Zhen on the street one day. As if he'd lost his soul, he followed her to her home. Rumors spread wildly: Yun Zhen looked exactly like the marquis's late wife. His subordinates were quick on the uptake. Using both persuasion and force, they pressured the beauty into offering herself to the marquis. As soon as Yun Zhen entered the tent, Jing Feng, seated behind his desk, raised an eyebrow. Yun Zhen curtsied gracefully. "May you live long, my lord." Jing Feng set down his military book and demanded in a low voice, "What have you come here for?" Yun Zhen: "The county magistrate made the decision to present you with a beauty." Jing Feng remained impassive. "Count them yourself. How many times is this now?" The next day, the county magistrate who'd presented the beauty was beheaded in public. Everyone said he'd tried to flatter the marquis and made a fool of himself. The marquis was devoted to his late wife and had no intention of taking another. Unexpectedly, some time later, people were astonished to see the marquis emerge from the beauty's room at dawn. When asked about it, Yun Zhen calmly said, "Oh, the marquis was once my second husband." Everyone was dumbstruck. But weren't both of your previous husbands dead?? After a long silence, someone cautiously asked, "Then your first husband, who died so long ago..." Jing Feng let out a low laugh. "That was me too." #Her Two Late Husbands Have Come Back# Theme: There is no obstacle in life that cannot be overcome.
