The Son of Heaven's Blade in His Palm

Feng Wutong spent her whole life as the emperor's blade, held in his hand. If Emperor Jingxi was a wise and enlightened ruler whom everyone looked up to, she was the shadow hidden from the light. Whenever she completed a mission flawlessly, she would kneel at the emperor's feet in the most respectful manner, letting his warm palm brush over her head as he smiled and praised her: "Well done." He had once been her master, her heaven, and the one she could never have. Until the day a white silk cord, poisoned wine, and a dagger were laid before her, and she was told to choose. The eunuch's voice carried an air of arrogance as he relayed the decree: "His Majesty remembers that you are a woman. You will be spared beheading and granted an intact corpse." Reborn into a new life, she ran her fingers over the precious blade the emperor had just bestowed upon her and let out a soft laugh. Then she turned and sought out the rebel prince who had plotted to usurp the throne in her previous life, her old rival who had been locked in a secret struggle with her for an entire lifetime. The Prince of Langya, Yuwen Chong. The scheming Prince of Langya still looked like a frivolous, rakish playboy, a pleasure-seeking wastrel of the capital who spent his days riding out to the pleasure quarters. In the fading light of dusk, Feng Wutong leaned against the window frame, twirling a lock of her dark hair around her fingers. She said coolly, "Beat me once, and I'll be your blade."
