= Pure romance, everyday life, a sweet little story
#What do you do if your girlfriend has attachment-related psychological trauma, longs for a mother-daughter relationship, and really wants a child? Easy: be her mom.^^
A slow-witted, affection-starved little airhead x a manipulative, guiding older woman
After losing both her parents, Wen Ruoning grew up in her aunt’s home.
Her aunt didn’t like her and only treated her own daughter well. Wen Ruoning understood. It was normal, after all: they weren’t a real mother and daughter.
She thought that if only she had a blood relative of her own, then she would have a home.
Holding on to this grand ambition for years, Wen Ruoning worked hard to save money after graduating and decided to have a child of her own.
But single motherhood was too expensive, and her own genes weren’t that great...
Deep in thought, Wen Ruoning came across a novel:
One-night stand, run away with the baby, and start a happy life in a new city with your adorable little one!
Oh my god! Wen Ruoning’s eyes widened with delight. Isn’t this exactly what I want?
She studied the novel late into the night and came up with a whole plan.
.
Ji Yunwei had been single her whole life and was nearing thirty when her birth mother tricked her into going on a blind date.
The matchmaking corner was crowded and noisy. Thoroughly annoyed, she grabbed the first person who looked reasonably appealing and left.
The other woman looked very young, but took the matchmaking process quite seriously.
She went through everything from Ji Yunwei’s work history to her medical checkup, verified her enrollment information on the China Higher Education Student Information website, and even asked whether she’d had plastic surgery.
After checking everything, the person across the table lit up with joy and let out an excited “Wow,” for reasons Ji Yunwei couldn’t fathom.
Ji Yunwei almost laughed. Then the other woman asked, “Want to go? To my place?”
Ji Yunwei: ...?
Having a first date at one person’s home wasn’t exactly appropriate. But Ji Yunwei looked at that innocent, adorable face and decided not to overthink it.
Who knew that the moment they walked through the door, the other woman would kiss her, then look up at her with sparkling eyes and an expectant expression?
Ji Yunwei: ...
.
Ji Yunwei fell in love. Afterward, she seemed like a different person. She stopped working overtime and going to parties. The woman who had once sworn off marriage now talked about her girlfriend every day and clung to her whenever she had free time.
Their relationship was stable and their life together sweet. Their first anniversary was just a few days away. Ji Yunwei had bought a pair of matching rings and planned to propose.
.
Wen Ruoning was very sad.
A year had passed. She had tried so hard during that year.
Unless she was on her period, she always went to see Ji Yunwei for a date. Even when Ji Yunwei was traveling for work, Wen Ruoning would make the tiring trip to see her as long as it wasn’t too far away.
She had written her resignation letter a year ago. She had been looking at a new city, a new job, and a new home for a year, too. Now, on yet another period, Wen Ruoning could finally hold it in no longer and began to cry in misery.
She was sure it had to be Ji Yunwei’s fault. She suspected Ji Yunwei had faked her medical report. She was going to confront her. If Ji Yunwei had lied, she would... she would...!
Forget it. She was too sad. Let her cry a little longer first.
.
Bonus scene:
One day, Wen Ruoning had period cramps, and Ji Yunwei came to see her.
The person curled up on the sofa was in so much pain she could only groan weakly. “I told you I’m on my period. We can’t do that, so you didn’t have to come.”
Ji Yunwei crouched beside her. She felt sorry for her and found her adorable at the same time. She bent down and kissed her cheek, then said with a laugh, “I don’t only see you for that kind of thing.”
Wen Ruoning fell silent.
Oh... but she did!
.
Another day, Wen Ruoning drew a profile picture for Ji Yunwei.
Ji Yunwei kindly changed her profile picture on the spot. A few minutes later, she received a text from a colleague:
[Why did you change your profile picture? Is that your daughter’s kindergarten homework?]
Wen Ruoning was outraged. She roared, “How could she say that! Okay, maybe it’s a little messy, a little ugly, and a little childish, but she can’t call me your daughter! How do I even look like, ”
Her clawing hands froze in midair.
The woman who had been watching her quietly the whole time lowered her head and kissed her forehead. Her smiling eyes brimmed with tenderness. “Baby, Mommy loves you.”
She looked just like the mother Wen Ruoning had imagined for the past twenty years.
Reading notes:
1. All-female world with a natural reproduction setting; single people can have children through technology. Natural conception works through tribbing, and either partner may randomly become pregnant. (So if Ning wants her plan to work, she’ll have to find a way to make sure she’s the one who gets pregnant...)
2. Ages 22 and 29. The older woman’s perspective follows the blind date and romance; the younger woman’s perspective is kiss first, love later.
3. Happy ending. They’ll have a child when they get around to it after marriage, so there won’t be a child in the main story. There may be a parenting bonus chapter.
Theme: Love.
