You Return in Late Spring

Spoiled heiress x poor country boy, rekindled love | Reunion after a long separation |

The day before the May Day holiday, Liang Shiyuan went with her parents to the mountains to visit the grandparents of the child they sponsored.

The mountain roads were hard to travel, wild dogs ran amok, the signal kept cutting in and out, and Cheng Qiu was so distant that Liang Shiyuan found everything about the mountains unpleasant.

Her mother comforted her: "We're leaving this afternoon. Just hang in there a little longer."

But when afternoon came, she didn't leave.

That night, she barged into Cheng Qiu's room.

Liang Shiyuan had rehearsed this reunion countless times in her mind, but the moment she saw Cheng Qiu, all her plans fell apart.

Only when she discovered the flight bookings on Cheng Qiu's phone, along with page after page of searches about studying abroad for students from poor families, did she realize that she wasn't the only one thrown off course.

*A short story set in late spring, about six days spent playing in the mountains.
