In the later plot, Fu Yun’s furnace constitution is exposed. After his sect persuades him, he “voluntarily” lets the badly injured protagonist cultivate by absorbing his essence, destroying his cultivation in the process.

In the end, the protagonist’s harem will casually crush Fu Yun to death.

The System keeps warning him: “If you want to survive, you must win over the protagonist. Make him fall in love with you and protect you!”

Fu Yun readily agrees. “Got it. Don’t worry.”

Then he turns around and drugs the protagonist, trying to kill him.

The System is stunned. “Why? Have you lost your mind?” Fu Yun looks puzzled. “What’s wrong? Aren’t I the villain?”

“If I’m the villain, what should I be afraid of?”

With his furnace meridians blocked, Fu Yun can barely cultivate, but he insists on trying anyway.

He practices cultivation techniques that let him absorb others’ essence. Scorning the abuse of the weak, he sets his sights on the protagonist’s harem instead:

He coaxes the stiff, earnest young sword cultivator.

He tames the protagonist’s future bonded demon beast.

With his elders and superiors, he deliberately acts gentle and sweet. When they let their guard down, he steals their spiritual essence…

Once he gets what he wants, he either abandons them or makes his escape.

Later, at the Immortal Sects’ Grand Tournament, Fu Yun finally defeats the protagonist after a thousand exchanges.

The young prodigies seated above and the exalted ones beyond the clouds gaze down at the immortal platform, their feelings for Fu Yun a tangle of love and hate.

Countless cultivators hold their breath and look up at him, certain Fu Yun will become an exalted immortal and uphold the righteous path.

At the height of his fame, Fu Yun kills a sect elder and smashes a disciple’s jade token.

“My sect never taught me the Great Way,” Fu Yun says lightly. “Your disciple Fu Yun is going to seek his own path.”

He leaves the immortal sect, enters the abyss of demons, and seeks eternal life.

Fu Yun never looks back, not even once.

But the protagonist, who should have treated him as a furnace slave, and the harem who should have cast him aside, are no longer cold and indifferent.

“Cultivate by absorbing my essence,” they say, willingly offering their foundations to pave Fu Yun’s path to cultivation.

Reader’s guide:

1. A truly vicious, beautiful furnace-bottom, who trains dogs while leveling up.

Cultivation stages: Qi Refining → Foundation Establishment → Golden Core → Nascent Soul → Great Ascension → Deification → Uniting with the Dao/Ascension

2. The bottom is universally agreed to be the most beautiful in the story (he uses talismans to hide it early on), the most captivating, and the strongest by the end.

3. The protagonist is a true villain. He kills his husband to prove his Dao, and the story contains graphic violence. In the ending, the protagonist destroys the Three Realms, leaving only the mortal world. Immortals and gods cease to exist.

4. The story has several one-on-one pairings at different stages. There are six tops, all sexually inexperienced, with no romantic tension between them. Expect plenty of rivalry, as well as relationships involving affection, friendship, mutual murder, and mutual harm.

Divider: A response to debate about the story

[Controversy 1: Romantic tension between the tops]

During serialization, Chapter 13 once said “one top admired another top.” At the time, I explained that “admire” meant “look up to someone,” not romantic love. I intended to portray a character who admired strength and was emotionally inexperienced, but many readers were uncomfortable with it, and the chapter comments turned into an argument. After the story was completed, I simply deleted the ambiguous passage.

To reiterate what kind of author I am: I love melodramatic stories and beloved bottoms. My favorite trope is “fake rivals in love become real lovers.” I’ll keep writing it, so if it isn’t for you, please stop reading in time. I hope you find a story you enjoy.

(Additional clarification: If you’re avoiding this because of the plot in my previous book where “the bottom transmigrates into Top 2 and kisses Top 1,” here’s a spoiler.

The bottom and Top 2 were originally one person, split into different souls. The story’s central idea is “After struggling with myself for so long, I would rather be myself.” After losing his body, identity, and everything else in the conventional sense, the protagonist rediscovers his true nature and his heart.

The body-swap and self-romance setup is wildly out there, but it’s not the same as romantic tension between the tops. If you’ve read the whole book, you should understand the setup.)
