After I Accidentally Joined a Fluffy Group Chat

On the first day after moving into his new home, Yu Zhihe was added to a strange group chat.

Everyone in the group was chatting in character as little animals, and they had thoughtfully changed his nickname to [Crane].

[Evil Fleece]: Whoa! A remarkable new species just moved into the building!

[Turnip Bunny Pastry]: Crane-chan, the rabbit greets you.

Wanting to get along with the kids in his neighborhood, he went along with it and joined in: Hello, everyone.

After quietly lurking for a while, Yu Zhihe realized that although these kids who loved roleplaying had a strange way of talking, they were pretty nice.

For instance, when a weak stray kitten showed up downstairs, the group members secretly went to feed it.

Though he had no idea why they acted so... like they were facing the enemy, so furtive that they might as well have drawn up a whole plan and assigned roles whenever they fed the cat.

Then a sudden downpour left every group member "confined" to their homes.

The rain went on for three whole days. While everyone in the group fretted, Yu Zhihe went downstairs and brought the filthy little cat home.

With advice from the group, he carefully looked after the little Ragdoll for a month.

Meanwhile, someone named [Cat King] joined the group.

Everyone liked the new member. Even the most arrogant [Evil Fleece] and the naughtiest [Cold Samoyed] behaved themselves around Cat King.

He was probably the leader of a bunch of edgy kids, Yu Zhihe thought.

Lately, Cat King had been having romantic troubles, and the group members were falling all over themselves to give him advice.

Meanwhile, Yu Zhihe's cat had started acting up every day.

First, someone turned the neatly folded blanket he had left before work into a nest, and when he reached inside, he pulled out handfuls of cat hair.

Then flour and white sugar were scattered all over the kitchen floor, with a few tiny pawprints left there in a feeble attempt to cover it up.

Finally, even the showerhead in the bathroom was vandalized. His brand-new body wash and shampoo lay strewn everywhere.

Yu Zhihe took one, two, three, four, five, six deep breaths.

The culprit slunk into a corner. The moment he caught it, it meowed sweetly at him.

Spring had arrived. It was time to teach a cat a few things about being human.

The night before he was going to take the cat to the "Bell-Ringing Room" to get it neutered, Yu Zhihe woke with a start from a dream. Somehow, a handsome man with cat ears was sitting on him.

The man's jewel-blue eyes glared at him in displeasure. Their breaths mingled as Yu Zhihe heard him grit out, "Who are you planning to neuter?"

So the next day, Yu Zhihe was horrified to discover that the neighbor's husky and Samoyed were swapping tips on how to wreck a house, and he could actually understand what they were barking!

When he stepped out of the elevator, the little bird by the door was singing, "The sun is shining bright." The kitten being carried out for a bath cried that it wanted to play with Meow-Meow Zero. The golden hamster that had just arrived in its new home trembled and prayed it wouldn't be eaten.

...He must be hallucinating.

With a heavy heart, Yu Zhihe returned home and saw his own little Ragdoll obediently lift its face, looking like it wanted kisses and praise. When it saw him, it even meowed.

"Thank goodness, baby, you can't talk!"

Yu Zhihe scooped up the cat and buried his face in its fur, paying no attention to its stunned and despairing expression.
