Cheng Zhou finished an experiment in the middle of the night and was heading home when he got a call from his friend Chu Ye while crossing the street.
The other end of the line was eerily quiet. Chu Ye's breathing was rapid and heavy, and he could barely get the words out.
"Go back," Chu Ye said. "You're crossing the street, aren't you? Turn around right now. Don't go any farther!"
Cheng Zhou was baffled. He had just taken two steps back when the white headlights of a car sped toward him.
He was hit by the car and lost his memory.
When he regained consciousness, he saw someone slumped beside his hospital bed, on the verge of sleep. His face was deathly pale, his eyes bloodshot, and an oppressive chill seemed to emanate from him.
He had a handsome, rebellious face, but looked like a ghost.
They were both Alphas. Cheng Zhou felt the man was standing too close, but seeing how he looked made Cheng Zhou's chest ache.
Cheng Zhou kept his expression calm.
"Who are you?"
The man stared at him, his expression caught between laughter and tears.
"I'm your boyfriend."
Chu Ye had a childhood friend who was a really good person, but devoted his entire life to experimental research and rejected every suitor without mercy.
Chu Ye had seen him turn people down from every conceivable angle, leaving no opening at all. He had also heard him talk casually about never marrying or dating. Chu Ye, a rich young master who feared no one, had been so intimidated that he only dared to be the guy's best friend.
As time passed, Cheng Zhou differentiated as a highly sensitive Alpha, exceptionally attuned to the pheromones of the same sex.
A year later, Chu Ye differentiated as an Alpha, the very thing he'd least wanted to become.
Cheng Zhou stopped letting him sling an arm over his shoulder.
Unwilling to give up, Chu Ye crossed the two-meter safety distance when Cheng Zhou wasn't paying attention. He was promptly thrown over his shoulder, then helped up by a stunned Cheng Zhou.
Chu Ye decided to study abroad.
After meeting Cheng Zhou, he had used his family's connections to pull strings behind the scenes, making sure they were in the same class year after year, from elementary school on. This was the first time they would be apart for an extended period.
Before long, he received news that Cheng Zhou had died in a car accident.
The night after attending the funeral, Chu Ye was reborn, back to half a minute before the accident.
Cheng Zhou never expected to fall in love.
Not only was he dating someone, his boyfriend was an Alpha, and apparently they had a wonderful relationship.
Thinking of the gloomy, desolate look on his boyfriend's face after Cheng Zhou's accident, his sensitive, tearful nature, and how he never left Cheng Zhou's side, Cheng Zhou decided he couldn't abandon his former lover just because he had lost his memory.
He tried to soothe the trauma his boyfriend had suffered because of the car accident.
They had to hold hands while shopping, hug when they got home, sit in the couples' seats at the movies with an arm around each other, and pretend to be scared at escape rooms so they could hold hands while the NPCs chased them...
His boyfriend's Alpha pheromones were overwhelmingly strong, and Cheng Zhou had a very hard time putting up with them.
He wanted to find a solution, so he vaguely described the situation and tactfully asked the people around him for help.
The other person looked perfectly calm.
"Alphas tend to be like that when they're together. It's no big deal. Chu Ye even got thrown over your shoulder before."
Cheng Zhou was shocked.
Had he really laid hands on his lover before?
"But look at you two now. You're as close as two peas in a pod. The moment something happened to you, he flew back from abroad and has been by your side every day."
Cheng Zhou fell silent.
On his boyfriend's birthday, Cheng Zhou prepared a gift, decorated the room, and cooked a meal himself. He planned to kiss him in the soft glow of the birthday candles and wish him a happy birthday.
But he lost control. It turned into a deep, passionate kiss, and then he lost control again and pushed the man away.
In the darkened room, he could just make out his boyfriend's red eyes and tear-streaked face.
This was bad.
Cheng Zhou's heart clenched. He quickly pulled the man into his arms and finished wishing him a happy birthday, too guilty to look at his boyfriend's face.
So he didn't see his boyfriend bury his face in Cheng Zhou's shoulder, trembling with sobs as he smiled.
A somewhat silly (?) ABO school story, with two Alphas
