[Marriage Before Love] [Long-Standing Schemes] [Unrequited Love Comes True] [Contract Marriage]
Ice-cold fashion queen VS scheming top-tier star male model
1.
Everyone in fashion knows that Jin Wei, editor-in-chief of Urban Edge, has a wicked eye. The models she picks always end up as top-tier stars.
Pei Shuo, known throughout the modeling world for his icy demeanor, never imagined he would become her prey. Even less did he expect that, in this game, he would be the hunter.
"Sign me." In the audition room, the man undid two buttons, revealing the collarbone line she had once praised in a magazine.
Jin Wei looked him up and down. "Mr. Pei, didn't we meet at a matchmaking event last week?"
Three days later, two contracts took effect at the same time.
A modeling contract and a marriage certificate.
2.
The editor-in-chief didn't need love. She only needed Pei Shuo's cover-worthy face.
But Pei Shuo turned out to be more trouble than she expected. Custom-tailored suits suddenly appeared in her dressing room, and his men's cologne kept getting knocked over onto her skincare products in the bathroom.
And when she came home late after working, her husband would already be there in his bathrobe, cooking noodles for her.
Jin Wei frowned and reminded him, "Mr. Pei, the last clause of our agreement says we don't interfere in each other's lives."
Pei Shuo leaned casually to one side and smiled. "Editor Jin, your lipstick is smudged."
To avoid unnecessary trouble, Jin Wei decided to come home less often. But she never expected Pei Shuo to keep distracting her with his eyes during shoots.
Jin Wei: "Your expression is wrong. Make it colder."
Pei Shuo: "I can't. How about you show me yourself, Editor Jin?"
Jin Wei held back.
But after catching him switching his tie in her office for the umpteenth time, she finally lost her patience. "Pei Shuo, that's enough."
Pei Shuo calmly tied his tie. "Editor Jin, who was it that said my temperament was perfect for the role of 'husband' in the first place?"
3.
For both of them, this marriage had always been a transaction.
Just as Jin Wei had achieved her goal and decided to end the marriage, she happened to open Pei Shuo's phone.
His photo album was full of pictures of her at events. The oldest one had been taken at Fashion Week three years ago, with the note: "My muse."
Jin Wei held up the phone. As Pei Shuo came out of the bathroom, she asked, "Care to explain?"
Pei Shuo pinned her in front of the vanity mirror. "When you recruited me as a model, Editor Jin, did you never look into the fact that I've been a lifetime subscriber to your magazine?"
