Liu Ruyun of the Shuyun Pavilion is as pure as moonlight after rain, with no worldly concerns. He has slain countless evil demons with his sword, only to be ambushed by the junior apprentice he raised himself while recovering from an injury, and cast into the Abyss of Myriad Demons.
The demons of the Abyss of Myriad Demons immediately erupted into a frenzy!
They came in droves, eager to devour Liu Ruyun’s soul, feast on his flesh, and tear the lofty sword cultivator apart.
But amid the black mountains and dark waters, where neither sun nor moon shone, came the muffled scrape of chains dragging across the ground.
The Demon Lord approached barefoot, black-haired and red-eyed, with heavy chains covering his body.
He wore black, his unfastened jacket hanging loose and exposing a chest marked by a deep sword wound that glowed a horrifying red.
It was the wound Liu Ruyun had left when he struck him down into the Abyss of Myriad Demons.
That sword strike had cut to the bone, cleaved through flesh, and pierced his heart, leaving him to suffer and nearly die.
The demons all knew the Demon Lord had come for revenge.
They scattered, unanimously declaring, “Boss goes first!”

On the first day, Liu Ruyun was taken to the Demon Palace and fitted with shackles.
But the shackles were delicate gold bracelets and anklets, and on Liu Ruyun they looked like exquisite, expensive jewelry.
On the second day, Liu Ruyun was taken to Demon God Mountain, where no demon dared to go. The Demon Lord placed in his hand a demonic stone said to corrode flesh, spirit, and soul.
But Liu Ruyun felt that the hidden injury that had tormented him for so long had eased considerably at once.
On the hundredth day, the demons whispered among themselves, wondering why their boss had suddenly ordered someone to find the scarce black grapes of the Abyss, which had no known benefit beyond being very sweet.
In the Demon Palace, after finishing his grapes, Liu Ruyun reached out and touched the dark red demonic horn on the Demon Lord’s forehead. The gold chains clinked softly as he moved.
The hot, dry wind of the Abyss flowed over his fingertips. The Sword God’s wounds had healed, and everything in the world was his sword.
His sword was meant to slay demons, after all.

The Sword God cleaves through wind and snow with a single strike, slaying every evil demon in the mortal realm.
Yet more and more people see Sword God Liu walking alongside a huge demon.
“This is my privately kept demon,” Liu Ruyun explains. “He’s very obedient. Not evil at all.”
He speaks casually with a smile, secretly swallowing the rest of the sentence.
...Except for certain tender moments in the night.
