After sleeping for ten thousand years, the mountain god Shen Ting awoke to find that Blue Star had become a “prison planet,” a polluted wasteland unfit for human habitation.
To regain his divine powers and survive, Shen Ting decided to farm. The problem was that he was so frail he could barely manage to plant anything.
So Shen Ting decided to catch some little animals to help him work the fields.
He caught felines to fish, and they caught huge, plump fish.
He caught wolves to till the soil, and they plowed broad, soft fields.
He caught foxes to grow vegetables, and they cultivated abundant, sweet crops.
He caught fat birds to catch bugs, and they protected the forest, keeping it dense and lush.
…
Soon, new life had sprung up on the barren mountain. The trouble was, these fluffy creatures were powerful and fierce, and they wouldn’t follow orders. He had to use both force and good food to keep them in line.
As the days passed, the barren mountain turned green, and Shen Ting grew stronger. Even the fluffy creatures he raised became sleek and shiny, with courage to spare.
At last, he was living the idyllic rural life he had always dreamed of!
But just a few days after he started to lie flat, a group of people showed up at his door with weapons.
Their commanding officer pulled out a wanted poster for a kidnapper and pointed at the fluffy creatures filling the house. Then he slapped a pair of handcuffs on Shen Ting right there.
Shen Ting: Me? A kidnapper?
Help!!
I’m just an honest, down-to-earth farmer!

In Star Era 222, Blue Star’s plants mutated and pollution ran rampant. Humans could easily enter a frenzied state, and the most severe cases were sent to the prison planet and held apart from their spirit forms.
Those with less severe symptoms all went to military academies to train their bodies and spirit forms to work in harmony and remain stable. People and their spirit forms were inseparable.
But one day, everyone discovered that their spirit forms kept vanishing without a trace, only to return looking dazed and strange before collapsing into bed.
They weren’t cooperating with training at all, and the humans could no longer sit still.
Following the tracking signals, they discovered that their spirit forms had been kidnapped and forced to work as serfs on a farm!
Every day, the fluffy creatures trudged off to plant crops, scrub pots, wash dishes, till the soil, pull weeds, and haul manure… They were exhausted and howled in protest. So tired! So tired!
Their human partners swore they would make the farm owner pay dearly!
But the culprit was a phenomenal cook. Spicy grilled fish, crisp and tender napa cabbage, rich but not greasy braised pork, giant soup dumplings with thin wrappers and generous fillings… Their spirit forms drooled at the thought. They got jittery if they went a day without eating. So delicious! So fragrant!
Then they discovered that the fish Shen Ting raised glowed and helped them sleep better, his vegetables made them feel light as a feather, and his pigs made them incredibly strong. Even drinking the mountain spring water calmed their minds and left them feeling wonderful all over…
The humans were won over!

Later, Shen Ting’s farm grew bigger and bigger, and his agricultural products were shipped across the world. The whole world went wild for them!
At heart, this is simply a farming story about raising fluffy creatures!
