A Black Melon Seed

In early spring, three seeds of different shapes and colors were abandoned in the little garden behind the sunflower seed factory.

The plump, pure-white one was a pumpkin seed. The long, slender one with black-and-white stripes was a sunflower seed. The third, a small and skinny black seed, was called Little Black.

Little Black never knew what kind of seed it was until summer arrived.
