I Shall Till These Ten Thousand Miles of Land

Pei Ningyu transmigrates and becomes the most debauched puppet emperor of the Great Xia Dynasty, a ruler who throws money around, has thousands of beauties in his harem, and takes out his anger on the regent... Not a chance! He has been bound to a famine warning System: in three years, a great drought will ravage the land, leaving corpses everywhere.

To stay alive, Pei Ningyu acts like a tyrant by day: "Get these useless fools out of my sight!"

At night, he rolls up his trousers: "A little more fertilizer for this plot of hybrid rice..."

But then

The improved rice he grows is presented to the palace as tribute, and the regent narrows his phoenix eyes: "Your Majesty has been... very fond of rice lately?"

The child he raised with his own hands is mistaken for an illegitimate son, and the regent crushes his teacup: "Explain yourself. Whose child is this?"

Even the two cabbages he secretly planted in the imperial garden are carried off, pots and all, by the regent: "Your Majesty comes here every night just to meet these two... vegetables?"

Pei Ningyu is near tears: I'm really trying to save the country through agriculture!

-

The regent never expected that the more he saw of the little emperor, the less he would understand him.

The vegetable seller caught on East Street looks just like the little emperor.

The great farmer he met in Zhongzhou bears an uncanny resemblance to the little emperor.

Even the widowed fisherman with seven children aboard a coastal fishing boat looks seventy percent like the little emperor.

He must be gravely ill, seeing the little emperor everywhere he looks.

Until the regent really catches Chi Bai and sees the calluses on his hands... His pupils tremble. "It's really you?!"

Pei Ningyu rubs his face furiously.

I'm the vegetable seller, I'm the great farmer, and I'm the widowed fisherman with seven kids!

So what!

The regent gently kisses his fingertips. "From now on, I'll be with you through it all."
