The Wife I Tricked Into Marriage Keeps Trying to Run Away

Timid, Frail Bottom vs. Scheming, Sinister Top

When Ying Qingmu was eighteen, his foster parents sold him to the Bai family as a good-luck bride for their dying young master, Bai Jin.

On the way to the Bai residence, ghostly figures crowded the crossroads, their sharp, grating mockery ringing in his ears. They laughed that he wasn't worthy of the dying young master.

Ying Qingmu didn't care. Once he'd seen Bai Jin off, he'd leave.

Life in the Bai household was fairly peaceful. The gravely ill young master had arranged everything, and there wasn't much he needed Ying Qingmu to do.

That suited Ying Qingmu just fine. He was happy to enjoy the peace and quiet.

But one day, while walking in the garden, something caught his ankle and dragged him into a nest of tree roots beneath the ground. In the chaos, Ying Qingmu saw Bai Jin save him.

Ying Qingmu thought Bai Jin was a good person, and the only one who made him feel safe. Only when he was with Bai Jin was he safe.

Later, Bai Jin died. With his dying breath, he told Ying Qingmu not to leave the Bai family.

But before the shadow of Bai Jin's death had even lifted, everyone in the Bai family turned into little ghosts coveting Ying Qingmu.

Ying Qingmu thought he would be the next to die. To stay alive, he ran, his body weak and unsteady as he fled without knowing where he was going.

Just as he was utterly exhausted, a cold hand gently settled on his shoulder.

Ying Qingmu turned back in a daze and saw his husband's deathly pale face.

The man who had been dead for some time smiled and asked, "My poor wife, why won't you behave?"
