Transmigrating into a Mermaid and Gathering Seafood

After a plane crash, Ji Huai was stranded at sea. At first, he thought he was marooned on a deserted island, so he worked hard to survive and waited for rescue. Gradually, he realized this might not be the world he had come from.

The ferocious beasts here could turn into people. The birds in the sky would steal the crabs he'd caught, then circle around and mock him. And there were vicious mermaids in the sea!

He had no choice but to scrape by, gathering shells at low tide and mushrooms when the tide came in. Yet he had an astonishing appetite. Even after spending eight hours a day foraging, he could barely fill his stomach, and he was always so hungry that he saw stars.

At some point, delicious deep-sea fish began appearing on the beach at regular intervals, in generous, filling portions.

After carefully watching for a while, Ji Huai realized he seemed to be getting fed by the supposedly vicious mermaid from the legends.

Then, to his horror, he discovered he seemed to be growing a fish tail?!

Xuan Lin was the most powerful mermaid in the nearby waters, with a vast territory. One day, a strange little creature showed up on his island. It lived on the shore and never went into the water, and on top of that, it kept picking up shells to eat.

How could a mermaid youngling live on shells alone? It would never grow a tail that way.

Xuan Lin casually caught a fish and tossed it ashore. Moments later, the fish, which wasn't even as long as a forearm, flicked its tail at the youngling and escaped.
