The Executioner and the Poor Scholar

The executioner was called Pei Er. He had a scar on his face, a limp, and the occupation of an executioner, so the neighbors kept well away from him.

The poor scholar was a frail bookworm with a congenital eye condition. One day, a student gave him a live chicken as tuition. The scholar didn't know how to raise it, so he decided to eat it, but he didn't know how to kill it either.

The young page said, "Ask the executioner next door. He can even kill people."

The scholar thought that made sense. They were neighbors, after all, and he could invite him to have some chicken soup.

Gradually, he discovered that the executioner was quite handsome, and could do all sorts of things: cook, fix the roof, patch the walls...

One day, the executioner showed up at his door carrying a big white goose.

Scholar: You didn't have to bring anything just because you're visiting.

Executioner: I'm here to ask for your hand.

Scholar (stammering): My cat catches mice but doesn't have kittens, and Ahua and Aye are still young... Who are you asking to marry you?

Executioner: You.

It should be very short.
