Passing Through the Mortal World

[Modern romance with multiple love interests, from school to working life]

At fourteen, Xie Yanzhi looks forward to going to and coming home from school every day. She can wait by the school gate, hoping to run into Xie Jishuang, who grew up with her, and waiting for her to glance over and say, "Why are you here again? Come on, let's walk together."

At seventeen, Xie Yanzhi is brought by a friend to interview for the student council. At a time when everyone wears messy ponytails, Zhang Hengwan, the student council president, wears her long hair down, its ends curled, and tells her, "From now on, you're with me."

At twenty-two, Xie Yanzhi is about to leave the country. Her longtime friend Chen Qichi rushes back from the capital to see her off. At the airport, Chen Qichi simply looks at her, pats her shoulder, and says, "I hope you're happy over there."

Passing through this world, Xie Yanzhi has loved a few people.
