On the n+1th day of wandering the Backrooms, it heard a human wish for the first time. The person said he wanted to go home.
So it granted his wish.
It wasn't very convenient to move around, but it didn't mind. From today on, it would work hard to learn.
It had heard that getting a roommate was a better way to observe humans--
The entire Seventh Investigation Group was wiped out, and Pei Dusi's friend was among them. So he was given the important task of visiting the victim's family.
On a humid, sweltering night of torrential rain, the rain soaked his hair, sticking it to Pei Dusi's pale, gloomy face. A bolt of lightning split the darkness, illuminating his dark eyes and revealing the red-haired young man standing at the door beneath a black umbrella.
The red-haired young man turned to look at him, the corners of his mouth lifting into a perfect smile. "Good evening, Asi."
Pei Dusi never imagined that his friend "Mu Changye," who had died and should have disappeared into the Backrooms, would ask to move in with him.
Pei Dusi agreed for a simple reason: he wanted to figure out what exactly was going on with "Mu Changye."
After they began living together, the problems gradually came to light.
"Mu Changye" often stared at him. When Pei Dusi caught him, he would break into a brilliant smile and ask if he wanted a little cake.
"Mu Changye" was curious about almost everything and never tired of trying new things.
He watched horror movies he used to hate with rapt attention, ate foods he once disliked with relish, and though he used to wish he could sleep and never wake up, Pei Dusi had yet to see him sleep at all.
Even so, a sense of awkwardness still emanated from him, inside and out.
Pei Dusi thought, as expected, he wasn't Mu Changye.
"Mu Changye" often felt that he was excellent, already a perfectly competent human.
For instance, he could handle relationships: Pei Dusi trusted him.
He could take care of a human: Pei Dusi liked the food he cooked.
He could meet a human's needs: for example, giving Pei Dusi a hug, sleeping beside him, or keeping his distance. He knew Pei Dusi had a few secrets and sometimes disappeared for a long time.
Later, Pei Dusi was injured on a mission, and his team's situation grew dire. Suddenly, he saw "Mu Changye" standing at a street corner with groceries. The red-haired young man ignored everything happening before him and simply asked, "Do you need me to read you a bedtime story, Asi?"
Pei Dusi: "..."
The red-haired young man tilted his head, set down the groceries, and opened his arms. "Then would you like a hug?"
Regarding the Special Investigation Bureau's classified file on [Mu Changye].
The Bureau's youngest director, Pei Dusi, wrote the following note: The only human to successfully survive the Backrooms.
P.S.:
1. A sharp-tongued researcher who protects human safety, paired with a self-confident, inhuman eldritch god who's like a puppy (probably). The former is the top, the latter the bottom.
2. Many original ideas. The higher-dimensional spaces in this story are collectively called the Backrooms, with some settings inspired by existing works.
3. They are each other's one and only. No switching roles or breaking up.
Here's an upcoming story, The Silent Beagle Victims' Alliance
Zhang Anjing thinks the heavens have it in for him.
After fighting tooth and nail to make it in the Mafia, a flowerpot hits him and sends him fifteen years into the future, reincarnated as a dwarf rabbit.
Every day, he argues with cats and dogs, takes his rabbit roommate for walks, and puts up with store employees filming him on their phones. His temper is becoming harder and harder to control.
Zhang Anjing: Getting angry, stomping his feet.
Store employee: So cute (*/∇\*)
Unable to take it anymore, he decides to make a run for it.
On the day of his escape, he waits until his roommate distracts everyone, then makes a huge leap, ready to charge toward freedom and greatness.
And then--
A pair of pale hands scoops him up.
A shy boy stands in front of him, looking down and saying, "Are they bullying you? Poor thing."
Zhang Anjing: Aaaah!!!
Every time Lu Shanmi comes home from the hospital, he passes the pet shop. That day, for some inexplicable reason, he pushes open the shop door.
The first thing he sees is a rabbit being shunned.
It is curled up in a corner, cautiously peeking at the employees who come and go. So small and pitiful.
He buys the rabbit.
In the days that follow--
It wrecks the house, smashes bowls, and gangs up with others to stage disappearances.
Every day, it curses and grumbles, steals his mouse and keyboard, and chews through his data cables.
One day, Lu Shanmi's deskmate nudges him and holds up a phone. "Is that your rabbit?"
He looks, and discovers that his livestream is somehow on. On screen is a rabbit wearing sunglasses and drinking juice from a wine glass.
Comments: [The Rabbit Boss has returned to its loyal livestream!]
[Congratulations to the Boss for defeating the evil humans!]
Lu Shanmi is distraught: You're a rabbit!
Ever since Zhang Anjing made Lu Shanmi's house his base, his career has been booming. Every living creature within a hundred li has to call him Boss.
He's quite satisfied with this meal ticket, except that Lu Shanmi cries every day and wants to bury his face in his fur, and keeps trying to lock him up at home.
So when Lu Shanmi gets into a car accident, Zhang Anjing is devastated.
Just then, two black-and-white figures appear before him.
White Impermanence: "Oh dear, there was a mistake at work and you got sent into a rabbit. But don't worry, build up some good karma and you'll turn back into a human soon."
Zhang Anjing: "?"
As he considers how to build up good karma quickly, he suddenly feels a scorching heat on his back.
He turns around and sees that the unconscious man has woken up.
Lu Shanmi tilts his head slightly. The timid crybaby stares at him with an odd look in his eyes. "Build up good karma?"
Zhang Anjing: ? How do you know--
"What the hell, you can understand me?"
P.S.:
A crybaby game streamer with a split personality x a hot-tempered little rabbit too busy with his career

Theme: May you find a home at the end of this lonely journey
Wife, you are really a perfunctory person, but you seriously feel that you are a person 🐶
Tiantian's simulated human level and language level are zero hahahahahaha
Hey, everything about true friends has been modified, and only you remember it. It's really... Although it's wonderful now, but in that context, who knows what kind of existence it is...
Gong is not brainwashing himself 🥺
Why not turn the whole world into cute little tentacles? Then there will be no more pain! 🤩
Finally updated, I like you [Spread Flowers]
It's really scary, all the evidence is telling you that this is your friend, but only you remember that that friend is really dead. 🤔
From God's perspective, I was anxious, but I knew I couldn't remember. The protagonist of the novel here is very realistic. If you want to prove that a person is not someone you know, you need a lot of evidence to confirm it, instead of being like some novels, "the eyes are deep, 'you are not him'" [Cat head] and this feeling will be very disillusioned. People around you tell you that he has not changed, only you feel that your good friend has changed. No matter from any angle, you will feel that you are helpless, hallucinating, too stressed, etc.
So will Komaki's true identity be revealed to us from Asi's perspective? As long as Asi has not been completely identified, we will not know his true identity and status.
It's great. It's a side story [Purple Sugar] kswl [Purple Sugar] kswl
