[Draft in progress]
From the moment he was born, Hagiwara Kenji knew he was living in a manga world.
His older sister was named Hagiwara Chihaya, but his dad was simply called Dad Hagiwara, and his mom was Mom Hagiwara. His kindergarten classmates were all unimportant background characters, A, B, C, D, and so on.
Hagiwara Kenji was an optimist by nature. He soon found a little freedom and authenticity in this half-hearted world, and could even be called an ordinary, happy child.
Until the year he turned seven, when he was bound to a System called "Escape the 2D World." The System told him that if he completed missions and earned enough popularity points, he could escape the fate assigned to a supporting character and go to the real world.
His first mission was: [Take part in the school's quiz competition with Matsuda Jinpei and win first prize.]
The reward was miserly, just three popularity points, but the moment Hagiwara Kenji saw the boy in the classroom next door, he was filled with boundless motivation: He was so cute! I don't just want to enter the competition with him, I want to be Matsuda's best friend!
On the day he got into the police academy, Hagiwara Kenji finally had enough points to redeem the complete plot of this manga world. To his surprise, he discovered that he, an unimportant supporting character, was already counting down to his death, while the manga's official story wouldn't begin for another seven years.
Warnings:
1. Pairing: Hagiwara and Matsuda, mutually and absolutely in love.
2. The blurb is from Hagiwara's perspective, but things aren't quite the same from Matsuda's.
3. Lighthearted, snarky style. It's a power fantasy, with occasional random character torment.
4. Not much about the Black Organization. The author's not very smart, so don't overthink it. Let's just say the main plot is the Bomb Squad falling in love, hahaha.
5. Drafting. I'll start posting once I have 30,000 words.
