High school detective Shinichi Kudo witnessed a transaction involving mysterious men in black. After they tried to silence him, he turned into a child and took the alias Conan Edogawa, moving in with his childhood friend Ran Mouri.
After spending his first night at the Mouri home, Conan stretched and discovered a note had appeared in his hand out of nowhere. It read:
"Call this magical number, and the operator will give you the help you need.
090****1107"
After pondering it for a long while, Conan decided to take the initiative and called the very ordinary-looking number.
The phone rang for more than ten seconds before someone finally answered. A man's voice came through, deep and pleasant even though it was hoarse and indistinct:
"Hello? Hagiwara Kenji speaking."
"If this is a sales call, hang up automatically. For matchmaking, press 1. For work matters, press 2. If you're drunk and need someone to talk to, press 3. If you lost your wallet and want to borrow money, press 4."
"Of course, pressing anything won't help. It's rude to disturb someone in the middle of the night, unless you're Matsuda Jinpei."
Glancing at the bright morning sunlight outside, Conan hesitated, then said, "Sorry, I'm in Japan. Could we be in different time zones?"
Hearing that, Hagiwara Kenji suddenly sat bolt upright in bed.
"What kind of god would actually be serious about that? Am I really an operator now?"
1. HagiMatsuHagi pairing. They're already lovers from the start. Their parallel worlds intersect. Also known as Kenji-chan and His Magical Phone.
2. The detailed outline isn't set yet, but there won't be any angst, and the two worlds won't merge in the end.
3. Hagiwara's world is a survival-if version with a scrambled timeline. There are bound to be plenty of bugs, so don't think too hard about it.
4. The length isn't decided yet. I'll start it after I Hear I Died Young.
