[19th Century] In Search of Miss McVeigh

Two female leads, light mystery, and not a very long story.

An experimental historical spin-off.

At first, Helena only wanted to pass the time.

She was an idle rich girl. Investigating Miss McVile's disappearance wasn't going to turn Helena Winchester into Sherlock Holmes.

Miss McVile was wealthy and unmarried.

Miss McVile worked at a clinic, where she mainly treated prostitutes.

There was no written record of the first half of Miss McVile's life.

Before she knew it, Helena was caught up in the mystery:

Who had taken Miss McVile? Her family? Her enemies? Or the notorious "Jack the Ripper"?

Mary McVile was born in 1837.

Queen Victoria ascended the throne that year, as the British Empire began its rise to greatness.

In the radiant years of her twenties, she cinched herself into a rigid corset, with her enormous crinoline as her refuge. Mary danced through the dazzling, bustling streets of London, and all of high society once bowed before her.

She laughed at those clumsy men, waiting for a handsome, imposing gentleman to slip a beautiful sapphire ring onto the ring finger of her left hand.

Mary never got her wish.

Her years were buried in silence.
