Don't Waste Your Golden Robes

This is the seventh book in the Splendid and Extraordinary Favorites series. The heroine is Du Qiuniang, beloved consort of Emperor Xianzong of Tang, Li Chun.

Du Qiuniang was born into humble circumstances and had once been the concubine of the rebel Li Qi. Yet after being taken into the palace, she won the emperor's favor, making her story truly remarkable. After Emperor Xianzong Li Chun died, Du Qiuniang's life became even more turbulent. Readers can glimpse this in the great poet Du Mu's Poem on Du Qiuniang. Drawing on official histories and Du Mu's poem, this book embellishes the record and describes in detail the many tumultuous years of Du Qiuniang's life, from her coming-of-age to her old age...

Besides focusing on the heroine Du Qiuniang, this book also features an important supporting character, Zheng Yu, the birth mother of Emperor Xuanzong of Tang, Li Chen. She is also a real historical figure. Both women had once been concubines to the same powerful official and had served the same emperor, yet they felt no jealousy toward each other. Instead, they formed a friendship that lasted for years. This unconventional approach has its reasons, and I hope readers will appreciate it!

I sincerely hope that Du Qiuniang's positive attitude in the face of adversity will offer readers plenty of inspiration!
