Please, Mistress, Show Me Some Love

[The story is complete! If you enjoyed it, please leave a five-star review (mwah).] Li Yue’er came from a poor family. For five taels of silver, her family sold her as a concubine to a wealthy household. The household was quite strange. Only the mistress ran things, while the master behind her never showed his face. They said Li Yue’er had been brought in to bring good fortune to the master, but she never even got to see him. In a sprawling mansion, how could she win favor without ever seeing the master? And without his favor, how could she survive? When the servants started picking on her, Li Yue’er decided to make her life a little easier. Dressed in something light and revealing, she gently knocked on the mistress’s door that night. Kneeling at her feet, she rested her fingers on the mistress’s knee and looked up with tearful, pitiful eyes. “Please take pity on me, Mistress.” A scheming, cold, and aloof mistress × a seemingly pitiful but actually calculating, delicate-flower concubine The main story is told from both characters’ perspectives. The master ran off with someone a long time ago. Taking a concubine is a cover-up. The mistress is the master’s paternal half-sister, called in to clean up the mess he left behind. They are not married. The master will not appear in the story. Theme: People should strive to live well and better themselves.
