The little snake tucked her head down and didn’t dare say a word. But to her surprise, what awaited her at the woman’s home wasn’t a huge jar of wine. It was a piece of fresh meat and some cool medicinal ointment on her scales. Waaah~ A human is feeding me. A human is putting medicine on me. Humans are good. The little snake swished her tail and crawled over to gently rub her head against the woman’s finger to show affection, only to get flicked between the eyes again. “Hurry up and recover. Once you’re healed, you’ll make more nutritious wine.” After saying that, the woman tossed her into a room full of venomous creatures. Waaah~ The little snake’s eyes welled up like poached eggs. She curled herself into a ball in the corner, then lowered her head and wiped her tears on her scales. Scary. Need to find someone. Swishing her tail, she squeezed through the crack in the door where the woman had disappeared. * A Wan is an herb gatherer from Miaojiang. She’s a loner who never socializes with anyone. She taught herself a little witchcraft and keeps a roomful of venomous creatures. One day, while gathering herbs in the mountains, she found a little snake barely thicker than her index finger. It looked badly injured. Her heart softened, and she picked it up. She hadn’t expected the little thing to bare its fangs at her, so she flicked it between the eyes and put it in the room where she kept her venomous creatures. Then she went back to bed. But… why was she getting colder and colder in the middle of summer? A Wan rolled over and sleepily opened her eyes, only to find herself face-to-face with a pair of clear, bewildered eyes. “Human, scary.” The thin, high-pitched voice came from the delicate young woman beside her, deliberately imitating her way of speaking. A Wan pinched herself hard. She wasn’t dreaming. ＊Bonus scene＊ Deep winter had arrived. Snow fell thickly outside, while the brazier in the room burned bright and warm. The little snake crawled into the cozy bed only after sneaking some candy. She nestled against A Wan, wriggling this way and that until she woke her. “Snuck a treat again?” A Wan’s voice was hoarse and drowsy. She didn’t even open her eyes. The little snake blinked and lied nervously: “Nope.” As soon as she finished speaking, A Wan opened her eyes and pinched her chin. Her gaze darkened as she said slowly, “I’ll have to check.” “How will you check… Waaah~” The little snake had barely opened her mouth when naughty A Wan’s tongue slipped inside. She squirmed restlessly beneath A Wan, winding her tail around A Wan’s ankle and licking her lips hard. Waaah~ Humans have such soft mouths. Little snakes love to eat them. A Wan pressed down halfway on the little snake, her long, slender, fair fingers lightly tracing her beautiful scales as if searching for something. The little snake’s breathing suddenly grew heavier.
