Captain Gu Doesn't Want to Be a Widower

Bai Li has three rules for life:

No dating;

On the first day, they shook hands, and Gu Yuanfeng punched him in the stomach. Bai Li didn't hold back, slamming an elbow into him in return.

Everyone stared in shock. "You two know each other?"

Gu Yuanfeng: "No."

Bai Li: "No."

The team members were very interested in their handsome new captain and grilled him about his dating history. Gu Yuanfeng replied carelessly, "I was blind once and fell for someone." He glanced at Bai Li's deathly pale face and raised his voice. "Dating is pointless, like a fart that doesn't even make a sound."

Gu Yuanfeng had gotten the better of him verbally, but he noticed that Bai Li seemed a little off.

That guy often talked to the air late at night, muttering to himself like he was possessed.

Gu Yuanfeng: "Are you sick or something?"

Bai Li: "Yeah. I'm dying."

Gu Yuanfeng: "What do you mean?"

Bai Li: "Nothing. Just pretend I farted."

Later, Gu Yuanfeng found a crumpled piece of paper in Bai Li's dorm. The words on it were written by his own hand six years earlier: When your stomach hurt, I was really worried.

Clutching the note, he rushed to the office.

Bai Li was typing at his desk. From the side, his face was still as handsome as ever.

Just too pale. Too pale to look alive.

Gu Yuanfeng folded the note and put it in his pocket. His voice echoed down the hall. "Bai Li, did you mean what you said back then?"

Bai Li flinched and instinctively glanced at the trash bin beside his leg. The white tissue on top was speckled with crimson.

"I did."

"Everything I said back then was true."
