Everyone knew Zhao Hongyuan was the craziest superpowered person in the otherworld. No one could stop his relentless advance as he conquered new territory. Few people, however, knew that every time he planted the flag of victory in enemy lands, he endured the excruciating pain of his organs twisting inside him.

His powerful ability came with a terrible side effect: using it inflicted devastating damage on his internal organs.

But that pain was healed when he met a refined-looking man named You Zhen.

The pain caused by his powers' backlash gradually weakened, then disappeared. As Zhao Hongyuan annexed hostile forces and expanded his territory, his path to becoming the ruler of the otherworld grew ever smoother. He unleashed his power without restraint, never noticing You Zhen following behind him, biting his lower lip until it bled from the pain.

A violent energy that did not belong to You Zhen surged brutally into his body, churning wildly through his abdomen. Yet You Zhen forced himself to swallow the unbearable pain.

He knew it was the backlash from Zhao Hongyuan's powers.

From the day he became Zhao Hongyuan's follower, You Zhen had signed a one-way contract and made himself into a vessel. Without telling anyone, he cut open his own abdomen and implanted a device that converted the backlash into his flesh, all so that Zhao Hongyuan would not be distracted by the backlash while fighting fiercely.

This was You Zhen's secret.

In the Nth year of being Zhao Hongyuan's follower, the converter kept being upgraded, and You Zhen's health deteriorated further and further. Zhao Hongyuan had asked after him, as a superior might check on a subordinate. Each time, You Zhen answered earnestly, blaming his condition on his chronic stomach problem.

Shaking, fainting, vomiting blood, falling unconscious... You Zhen's "stomach problem" grew more and more severe, and Zhao Hongyuan finally realized something was wrong. But just as he was about to uncover the truth, the converter inside You Zhen exploded. Amid dazzling flames woven from a sky full of blood-red light, all Zhao Hongyuan managed to catch were a few scraps of tattered cloth.

On the battlefield reduced to ruins, Zhao Hongyuan stayed all night, holding You Zhen's belongings in his hands. His diary recorded the smallest changes in his body every time Zhao Hongyuan used his powers. At the very bottom of the diary was a neat line of small writing: "Today I made Zhao Hongyuan hurt a little less. I'll keep trying tomorrow."

The three characters in "Zhao Hongyuan" were written in perfectly neat handwriting.

[Rebirth]

Reborn at the superpower academy, Zhao Hongyuan felt as if a lifetime had passed. Relying on his memories, he found the young You Zhen, but saw a trace of confusion in the other man's clear eyes.

"Who are you?"

"My name is Zhao Hongyuan. I'm your upperclassman, and one day I'll be your boyfriend, too."

Clutching his books, You Zhen backed away several steps in fright and instinctively pressed a hand to his lower abdomen.

Zhao Hongyuan had seen You Zhen collapse in a pool of blood. He had seen the moment You Zhen dissolved into particles. Now, that tiny gesture from the youthful boy before him made his pupils contract sharply.

"Does your stomach hurt?" Zhao Hongyuan immediately asked, his voice urgent.

You Zhen froze for a moment, then pressed his lips together, a little embarrassed. "It's an old problem. I squatted for too long just now, so I'm a little uncomfortable."

"Come on. I'll take you to the campus clinic."

And so Zhao Hongyuan used the opportunity to force his way into You Zhen's life.

[Little Rebirth Scene]

"You Zhen, are you stuffing more random junk parts into your body again?!"

"I..."

"You what?"

"..."

"Why aren't you saying anything?"

"My stomach hurts."

As he scolded him, Zhao Hongyuan administered medicine and rubbed his stomach, covering both sides at once. The louder he yelled one moment, the faster and harder he dropped to his knees the next.
