Can the Demon King and the Hero Get a Happy Ending?

(Blurb to be written) (A short story inspired by a random idea)

As you can see, I'm a Demon King.

I'm disguised as an ordinary mage, lying low beside the Hero, and planning to kill him before he discovers who I am.

This Hero is pretty weird. He enthusiastically helps the villagers catch chickens and kill slimes, but also rummages through their chests to steal their stuff. He's more of a bandit than a bandit.

The Hero hasn't figured out who I am. He chatters away at me about things I can't understand.

Things like +1 defense, levels, side quests...

He even gives me this pitiful look and says,

"I wish you were real."

...What does that mean? If I'm not real, what am I?

After putting up with him all the way there, we finally arrive at the gates of my Demon King's castle.

The Hero raises the finest sword in the whole village, and I pull the magic staff from my robes.

Then he asks,

"Would you marry me?"

Me: ...?
