[One Piece] This Navy Is Awesome and Too Stupid

To cut costs, Joey Begal moved in with a roommate. Her roommate was a Marine, unimpressive in both appearance and ability. His fists were always bruised, and he often didn't get back from training until the middle of the night.

Joey Begal couldn't bring herself to tell her roommate that he wasn't cut out to be a Marine, so she hinted that he might consider a civilian position in the Marines. But her roommate seemed to have had his intelligence diluted by his height. He couldn't focus on books, and he always got his arithmetic wrong. After he messed up the numbers once, he simply handed her the bank card he used for everyday expenses.

Roommates who don't care about money are hard to come by these days.

Joey Begal decided that as long as her roommate didn't die in the line of duty, she could live with him for the rest of her life.

However, because of his frail constitution, her roommate's body was colder than an ordinary person's. Joey Begal was a war correspondent. She had touched corpses, and her roommate felt no warmer than one.

Was her easygoing roommate going to kick the bucket?

Joey Begal couldn't help worrying, but the things you least want to happen are often the ones most likely to happen. One day, she came home to find her roommate's body colder than cold.

Joey Begal couldn't accept the fact that her roommate had suddenly died. She wasn't exactly a good person, but the death of a good person always upset her.

"Since it's come to this, we might as well put his assets to good use."

Morgans, a fellow reporter, was Joey Begal's childhood friend. The two of them had been little scoundrels since they were kids. Joey Begal's long-dormant scoundrel instincts awakened, and she decided Morgans made a lot of sense.

Following Morgans's advice, since spouses were entitled to inherit their partner's property, Joey Begal dug out a decorative ring she usually didn't wear and slipped it onto her roommate's icy ring finger.

Suddenly, her cold roommate came back from the dead.

Her roommate stared at the ring on his finger for a long time, as if he were dreaming, though his blank expression looked no different from when he was awake.

Roommate: "I do."

Joey Begal and Morgans: "Huh, what?!"
