A lonely heiress with an empty heart once asked a wild bassist if she would enter a pure-gold cage and be her caged songbird. Yue Fei said, “I'm a person.” I won't be a songbird in a cage. I'll grow steel wings and barge into your empty heart, fluttering about and making a glorious mess. From now on, I'll give you a second heart. Even if you clutch your chest, you won't be able to stop it from flying. Synopsis loading... A peek at an upcoming story/ On the third day after unexpectedly gaining the ability to read minds, Cheng Zhuying tried it out on Lu Mi. Lu Mi: bangs covering her eyes, seat by the back window, lowest-ranked in the class. She rarely spoke and never accepted Cheng Zhuying's invitations to link arms and go to the bathroom together. Whenever Cheng spoke to her, she never reacted, leaving Cheng unsure whether she'd even heard. Social butterfly Cheng Zhuying could befriend even stray cats and dogs. Lu Mi was the only person she'd ever failed to win over. She just couldn't accept it! After three days of carefully confirming that her mind-reading ability was real, Cheng Zhuying brushed Lu Mi's hair aside and looked into her eyes. Five, four, three, two, one. To read someone's mind, you have to look them in the eyes for more than five seconds. She heard Lu Mi “say”: [My deskmate put her shirt on backward today] Cheng Zhuying: ! [Why is the cat by the school gate ignoring me] [I think I know that person from just now. Should I say hi? They're gone] [Math homework, we barely know each other, why are you doing this to me? And here I am looking at the math homework with my cute, vacant expression. Hehe, I feel so innocent!] [I don't want to eat in the cafeteria today. It tastes so disgusting] So she was a walking complaint box. Dizzy from the barrage of thoughts flooding her mind, Cheng Zhuying finally found something useful that might help them become friends. She immediately took Lu Mi's hand. “Lu Mi, why don't you come home with me for lunch?” Lu Mi's gaze settled on their joined hands. “...Okay.” [So close] - Lately, Lu Mi had noticed that everything she wished for came true. The manga she wanted to read would be waiting on her desk the next day, courtesy of Cheng Zhuying. When she was hungry, Cheng Zhuying would feed her strawberries and oranges. When she got cold during her nap, a jacket with a faint, lovely scent would appear over her. Cheng Zhuying's jacket. Without realizing it, her school life had filled up with another person's name. [Cheng Zhuying, Cheng Zhuying, Cheng Zhuying] Lu Mi chewed on her pen, puzzled over why she could never finish her math homework. She turned around, and the person beside her was blushing as red as the strawberries she'd fed her at lunch. “Cheng Zhuying,” Lu Mi asked, voicing the question that had been on her mind lately, “why do you always look me in the eyes?” [Is it because you like me?] Theme: Be yourself
