He Is My Late Husband's Elder Brother

[Possessive Love + Jealousy Galore]

After her husband fell off a cliff and his body was never found, Sang Wu wept day after day. Unable to give up hope, she imagined that perhaps he was still alive and would return one day.

He did return, but the man who came back was Pei Zhao, younger brother of Pei Zhuo, the Grand Secretary of the current dynasty, and the betrothed of the Commander-in-Chief's daughter.

He was not Lu Zhi, the man who had grown up by her side, but the second young master of the Pei household, betrothed to a noblewoman.

She was only a lowly peasant girl, now a cast-off wife he had left behind, yet he still refused to let her go.

When Lu Zhi imprisoned her, the only person who reached out to help her was Xie Heng, the brilliant young scholar who had placed third in the palace examinations.

While her deceased husband's body lay in state, she recalled everything that had happened and chose to return to the capital with his elder brother, Pei Zhuo.

But for some reason, he always looked at her strangely.

An idea struck her. She wanted revenge. She would crush Lu Zhi beneath her heel.

By the time she realized how cruel and deranged Pei Zhuo truly was, it was too late. In a moment of impulse, she had accepted his marriage proposal.

On the eve of their wedding, Sang Wu ran away.

Only later did Pei Zhuo learn that she had approached him solely to get revenge, and that the person she truly loved was neither her deceased husband nor Pei Zhuo, but that scholar who placed third in the palace examinations.

Xie Heng was the one she cherished with all her heart, so carefully and with everything she had.

Pei Zhuo's gentle words were laced with boundless madness. "Wu Niang, is he really so wonderful that you think of him day and night and can't forget him?"

"If you insist on leaving, how about I kill him?"

[The heroine and her former husband never had a real marriage, and the hero knows this.]
