A Yin and her older brother are very close. They live next door to each other and grew up relying on one another after their parents died when they were young. It was only natural that they became husband and wife while still teenagers, though in daily life they continue to address each other as brother and sister.
Her older brother is gentle and considerate, attentive to her in every way. Their life is peaceful and happy, but she has no idea that there is more to his background than meets the eye.
He has an elder brother who holds power, and a younger brother of extraordinary talent.
The eldest, Tan Xuanjin, is elegant and refined, but cold by nature. Decisive and ruthless, with a deep-seated cunning, he is known as the Jade-Faced Asura.
The younger brother, Tan Xuanyue, has been pampered all his life and does as he pleases. He looks cheerful and harmless, but his moods are unpredictable and he never lets a slight go unavenged.
She follows her older brother into the residence. Afraid of being driven out, she is cautious and fawns over everyone, day after day, year after year.
Three years pass. She gives gifts and shows them care without end, but to no avail: neither the eldest nor the youngest young master likes her.
A Yin goes up the mountain to pray for their good fortune, but never returns. She dies in a torrential downpour.
When she opens her eyes again, ten years have passed. She is on an unfamiliar street, with no one to turn to.
Only then does A Yin learn that she has been living inside a danmei novel about forbidden love between brothers. The protagonists are her husband and the two young masters.
Given a second life, A Yin wants no part in their story. She hides away among ordinary people and lives alone, treating them as strangers even when their paths cross.
For reasons she cannot understand, however, the two brothers who once loathed her and avoided her at every turn now pursue her affection like madmen.

After A Yin’s death, gloom hangs over the Tan residence year-round. Its rooms are sealed off layer upon layer, and the soul lamp burns constantly. For ten whole years, there is no sign of life.
The home that once rang with laughter is shattered, and the three brothers have become strangers to one another.
One day, a carriage passes along the main street, and its curtain is lifted.
The eldest young master looks up. A slender, graceful figure in a green skirt with raven-black hair flashes past.
As she is about to disappear into the distance, a tender, loving call rings out: “A Yin.”
A Yin.
A cup shatters. The person inside the carriage hides in the shadows, eyes dark and clinging.

A Yin is unexpectedly brought back to the Tan residence. She can’t help thinking the eldest young master is acting strangely. He keeps reaching out to touch her, staring at her with a peculiar look, and treating her far too well. Even her usually gentle husband has become a little unfamiliar.
He comes silently from behind and wraps his arms around her waist, his lips brushing her ear. “Yinyin, we’re husband and wife. Why are you hiding from your older brother?”
A Yin shivers all over at his touch. Isn’t her older brother supposed to like boys?
For the most part, though, life is pretty good. The Tan residence is peaceful and comfortable, but she longs to see a wider world.
On the night before she plans to leave, A Yin gently pushes open the door. Her lashes tremble as she speaks with careful hesitation. “Thank you, Eldest Young Master, for looking after and guiding me all this time. I… I still plan to return to Changning.”
The eldest young master listens quietly. Thinking he has agreed, A Yin beams with joy, but the door suddenly slams shut.
A Yin clutches her sleeve and turns in alarm. She looks up into the eldest young master’s deep eyes, then tries to step back, only to be pinned in place by the younger young master’s shoulder. As she falls, a strong arm catches her around the waist.
“Does A Yin really want to leave her older brothers?” Sheer fabric slips away as fingertips stroke her trembling back, his voice tender and intimate yet shadowed with menace.
They once thought A Yin was of no consequence. Now they want to possess every part of her, like madmen.

Coming soon: The Honest Girl Side Character in a Danmei Novel
Yaoniang is dull and unromantic, and her husband treats her coldly. Only later does she learn that her husband does not love women. His heart belongs to someone else, a man he loves deeply.
That man is gentle and kind, graceful and distinguished. He is a renowned gentleman far and wide, as well as her husband’s junior fellow disciple.
But she never expected that this seemingly moon-bright gentleman would secretly seduce her, revealing himself in private to be so wanton and shameless. He is courteous to everyone in public, but a ruthless killer with a vicious heart behind closed doors.
His smiling face is spattered with blood, and his tender, affectionate voice sends a chill down her spine. “Yaoniang, you’re mine…”
When everything is beyond saving, Yaoniang collapses to the floor and discovers that her husband arranged it all on purpose, because he wanted a child carrying his junior fellow disciple’s bloodline…
Note: There is more to the story than the above suggests. Both men love the heroine.
A melodramatic potpourri.
