All the little demons envied Hua Yao for finding such a wonderful husband. He was the head of the immortal sects, gentle as jade and noble as moonlight. In their three years of marriage, he had never once spoken harshly to her.
She was spoiled and willful, deliberately making trouble, and he indulged her in every way, cleaning up the mess afterward.
She refused to bear him children, and he respected her choice, never forcing her.
She was unruly and carefree. As the lord of a palace, he was busy every day, yet still made time to coax her.
At first, Hua Yao thought he was easygoing. Gradually, though, she realized his gentleness was like a net with no gaps.
All her antics, tests, and tantrums were like punches thrown into cotton. He always remained calm and unruffled, as if nothing could ever affect his emotions.
Shen Fuguang had married her only because of an absurd accident, out of a sense of duty.
Even so, he played the part of a good husband in every detail. Even in bed, he was gentle and considerate, never going too far.
He went to bed on time and woke up on time, day after day. Hua Yao grew tired of this life.
"Shen Fuguang, how about we divorce?"
Even then, he answered gently, softly saying yes.
They had been married for three years, and their tempers did not suit each other. He had probably had enough of her spoiled, overbearing ways too.
The flower demon packed her things and left, but ran into danger along the way. When she opened her eyes again, Hua Yao had returned to the time before she married Shen Fuguang.
This time, she had learned her lesson. She would no longer be fooled by that gentle exterior, and she rejected the marriage.
As it happened, there was a young gentleman who was refined and charming, with interests much like hers.
She thought it was a match made in heaven, never imagining that Shen Fuguang had also been reborn.
And he was none other than her new suitor's closest friend.
At first, he was just as ever: gentle, courteous, composed, and restrained. When they met, he even smiled and greeted her, "Miss Hua Yao."
He would even warmly wish her and his close friend well, but gradually, Hua Yao sensed something was wrong.
In those gentle, compassionate eyes, there seemed to be something unfamiliar and frightening.
Only later did she learn that his gentleness was all an act. He was insatiable, full of tricks. His supposed restraint and gentlemanly manners were nothing but a mask for his beastly nature!
"Shen Fuguang! I don't want any more!"
"Didn't you say your husband was old-fashioned and boring, and that being with me was dull?" He buried his face in the girl's neck and asked with a quiet laugh, "Do you like it now?"
