The Weasel and the Chicken: Love and Escape

The climate is getting worse, and the spiritual energy in the mountains is growing thinner. As a result, fewer and fewer plants and animals are gaining sentience.

To protect these increasingly rare sentient plants and animals, the Bureau of Supernatural Creature Conservation has introduced a policy: supernatural creatures must not kill one another. They must love and support each other, grow their families, and bring back the splendor of days gone by!

And so we get heartwarming scenes like "mice serving as bridesmaids for cats, foxes marrying tigers, and frogs and snakes strolling hand in hand down the street." What a lively, joyful sight...

Jia Yuan is a mountain pheasant spirit who has cultivated a human form for less than a century.

Lately, he's been in a foul mood because a weasel spirit has taken a liking to him...

(I've been planting lots of little stories lately, all under ten thousand words. A quick, fun read, so come check it out~)
