Making Love in Front of Your Grave

Two spirits meet in the mortal world. They fall for each other at first sight, confess their feelings, and decide to spend their lives together.

But each thinks the other is mortal.

Afraid their spirit forms might frighten the one they love, they carefully hide their secrets and live each day together according to the mortal cycle of birth, aging, sickness, and death.

The first half of their lives is full of joy and ease.

The second half is filled with worry.

They worry as their beloved grows old, develops wrinkles, becomes frail, and loses their sight and hearing.

They worry that if their beloved dies first, they will be left behind to pine for them.

They worry that if they pretend to die first, they will leave their beloved behind to pine for them.

So once they reach a certain age, whether to die or not becomes a torment.

But people have to die eventually. They aren't spirits who can live for thousands or tens of thousands of years. And wouldn't living forever frighten the one they love?

In the end, Xie Ziyang steels himself and decides to "die" first...

(I've planted lots of little seeds lately. This is a short story of around ten thousand characters, written on a whim. Come take a look~)

Theme: Meeting is fate, and staying together is too.
