But he had no idea that his spirit beast, a little lion, had unhesitatingly betrayed him when he wasn't looking. It wagged its tail wildly at Xie Yuntang, showed her its belly, and wanted nothing more than to stick by her side every moment.

The little lion happily tugged at the hem of Xie Yuntang's skirt, only to be snatched away by its marshal, his face dark with anger.

In a dim room, Chi Lin pressed a large hand against the little lion's head. His Adam's apple bobbed. After a moment of silence, he said, "Don't go looking for her again."

His life had been bleak and unsettled, and he was covered in blood and grime. How could he dare to hold her back?

Then Chi Lin got drunk. His rough palm brushed over Xie Yuntang's rosy lips. His gaze was besotted and wild, his eyes burning with passionate love. At last, he let the words he'd buried deep in his heart escape: "Tangtang, who is this senior brother you can't stop thinking about?"

"Forget him. I'll be better than he ever was. Look at me... please."

Xie Yuntang ran her fingers over the skin at Chi Lin's throat, where his body was burning hot. Watching his handsome face grow redder and redder, she suddenly smiled and bent down to kiss his feverish forehead.

"Silly. My senior brother... hasn't it been you all along?"
