Reader's Note:
In this story, Ren is an alternate version who never became a Phantom Thief. His personality is completely different from the main-world version. If you can't accept that, you can think of him as another person wearing Ren Amamiya's appearance, like someone who crossed over while cosplaying. As for the title, I'm just clickbaiting.
In my version, this alternate Ren is 180 cm tall. He transfers to Fukurodani in his second year of high school, and his family situation has also been changed.
Warning! The author's writing style involves interacting with the audience in the narration, and I personally really like Silver, so Ren is especially prone to making sarcastic comments here! Expect plenty of inner monologue.
This story focuses on everyday life, friendship, and matches. The romance isn't the main focus. I don't know much about volleyball, so I'll do my research. If the matches aren't well written, feel free to skip them, but please don't yell at me QAQ.
The pairing is with a certain famous owl keeper. Xiao Hong will be the more forward one when it comes to romance.
That's all for the content warnings. If you're okay with them, please read on. Feel free to add anything I've missed.
Blurb:
In his second year of high school, Amamiya Ren was 17.
Because of his parents' work transfer, he left his old school, Shujin Academy. After looking over the schools in Tokyo, he chose Fukurodani.
On his first day, he was handed a club application and asked to choose one he liked. Hoping to fit in and start a wonderful new school life, he asked the class representative who gave him the form: Which club is the most popular at this school?
When he got the answer, "The volleyball club," he swiftly wrote down "volleyball club" and his personal information, then thought nothing more of it.
It was just a club activity. Surely they didn't expect him to know how to play volleyball?
But he soon regretted it.
Someone got hit with a huge lump on the head right outside the volleyball gym: ...
So volleyball was a sport where the ball was supposed to hit people?
Some murder-tennis player: ?
Volleyball: That's slander! This is blatant slander!
An energetic upperclassman who looked just like an owl ran out of the gym. "Ahhh, are you okay? I really didn't mean to! I don't usually play like this, no, no, how could an ace make a mistake? I'm such a useless ace..."
Watching the upperclassman curl into a ball, radiating gloom until it seemed like mushrooms would sprout all over him, Amamiya Ren felt helpless for the first time in his 17 years of life.
Fortunately, a kind classmate helped restore the upperclassman's energy.
Amamiya Ren: (Breathes a deep sigh of relief.)
Owl upperclassman: Hey, hey, hey! Let's have a great time playing volleyball together! Hahahahaha!
But Amamiya Ren had a bad feeling. He couldn't shake the sense that his peaceful life was about to be over.
