Mozaki Haruya was an ordinary boy who loved music.
He also happened to be terminally lazy.
So he never expected to get involved with volleyball after starting high school.
He only asked that big idiot in his class to hand in his club application for him because he was too lazy to do it himself. He'd filled out the form for the same going-home club he'd been in during middle school, but the next day, he was dragged straight to the volleyball club...
Mozaki Haruya: ?
Mozaki Haruya: Damn you, Haiba Lev! Where the hell have you dragged me? This isn't the going-home club!
Since club applications had closed and the follow-up paperwork was a pain, Haruya, who hated hassle, could only comfort himself with the thought that he could slack off during practice. But who could have guessed that the captain with the rooster-like hair would slowly reach out and lay a hand on him? "Make sure you do your training properly, Mozaki."
Mozaki Haruya: No way.
Kuroo Tetsuro: Hahaha, he's just like you, Kenma~
Kozume Kenma: I'm gaming. Don't bother me.
After slacking through a few days of practice, Mozaki Haruya noticed someone unusual. He never seemed to have any energy, carried a game console everywhere, and rarely trained with the others.
Mozaki Haruya: So there's someone else who slacks off like me. I've decided, Kenma-senpai, you're the one!
Kenma: ?
And so he promptly invited the pudding-headed kitty to join his slacker squad.
Kozume Kenma stared at the other boy's expressionless face, thought it over, and agreed.
After that, the two of them were always stuck together (at least in Haruya's mind). They did everything together: eating, gaming, listening to music, practicing, going to training camps, and more.
Here's Kuroo Tetsuro's inner monologue:
They're so close. (Pleased)
Wait! Isn't Kenma my childhood friend? Why is he... (bites handkerchief)
Kenma's all grown up. He even learned how to steal people away. (Clasps hands)
When Mozaki Haruya finally came to his senses, he looked at their interlaced fingers and his newly acquired boyfriend, and fell into deep thought.
Reader notice:
This is a 1v1 romance, and the pairing is with a certain brain.
The protagonist is strong, but not invincible. He's lazy and has terrible stamina, so there's no way he can be unbeatable. This isn't a power fantasy.
At heart, this is pure wish fulfillment, but I'll do my best to write the matches well. As a Nekoma fan, I want them to win.
