[Classic Literature Crossover] How a Movie Star Defied Fate

Sybil's story begins in the Thames, a river so foul-smelling it could rival the Ganges.

The floating corpses and indescribable trash made her want to empty her stomach at once, then scrub herself like a scalded pigskin three times over.

It was the end of 1880. Britain was still under Queen Victoria's rule, and the Lumiere brothers had yet to film a train pulling into a station. Across the ocean, in the northwestern outskirts of Los Angeles, a village called Hollywood was still mostly farmland.

Facing the nightmare of her original body's miscarriage and abandonment by her lover, Sybil realized she had changed in some way. After a brief moment of thought, she decided to move somewhere else and start a new life.
