Deep in the Woods [Mystery]

This is the biggest case Lincheng has seen in ten years.

The five victims were my classmates.

On TV, the news described it as "inconceivable" and "extremely heinous."

The whole city was in an uproar.

Neighbors gathered to discuss this shocking "major event." Everyone but me.

After buying groceries, I still had to pick up my mother from the shop where she worked.

When I arrived, the shop owner said she had gone home on her own.

I was a little relieved. Mom had finally remembered the way home.

But when I got home, nobody was there.

I realized one thing:

Mom was missing.

And her mental age was only eight.

She had always obediently waited for me outside the shop to pick her up after work. She had done so for ten years.

Only later did I learn that on the day Mom went missing,

she saw the killer walk past the door.

[Third-person narration] [Mystery with a twist]

"I ran through the deep woods, fell to the bottom of a cliff, and fled in terror. I looked all around, only to realize that I had never escaped that abyss at all."

1. A mystery novella, an obscure theme I've written for my own enjoyment. I'll start posting once I've built up enough chapters. If you're interested, please add it to your collection!

2. Text inspiration: Zhao Shijue. I recommend her work all the time. They're all adorable, hilarious little sweet romances. So good!

3. My profile also has another completed mystery novella, My Daughter Is Missing, as well as other long, binge-worthy infinite-flow novels.

Theme: A shocking crime takes place in a small city in southwestern China, shattering the female lead's peaceful life. Her mother goes missing, bringing to light a secret past spanning ten years. The truth buried for years is finally revealed. Justice will come, and we must fight evil to the end. Though the deep woods are dark, there will always be light.
