Transmigrating to the Stars to Write Novels

Transmigrating isn't scary. Even transmigrating into the life of a penniless single mother with a child, unable to pay the rent and about to be evicted, isn't scary.

What's scary is... she's the child.

In a destitute, hopeless interstellar world, her desperate "mother" chooses suicide, leaving eleven-year-old Zhong Li to fend for herself.

A spaceship lands on the abandoned planet. The neighbors say the people aboard are looking for black-haired, black-eyed girls to sell as maids, to be adopted, or to work in sweatshops... The rumors are all over the place.

Zhong Li looks at the leering old landlord, his disabled son, and his intellectually disabled grandson. Their sticky, covetous stares make her sick. She thinks that surely things can't get any worse than this.

She decides to sell herself.

"Miss Zhong Li, how did Madam Mi choose you from among all those girls to become her adopted daughter?"

The unfriendly interview and malicious words make Zhong Li pause in her stride.

Then she turns back, her cold, world-weary eyes revealing nothing but indifference. "There are plenty of adopted daughters in the world."

"But there's only one Zhong Li."

At eleven, Zhong Li sells herself and leaves the abandoned planet. At twenty-one, she makes the top ten on the annual list of most influential writers for the tenth year in a row, and the top three on the annual list of most beloved writers. She tops the list of wealthiest writers, becoming the youngest and richest world-class writer.
