At the 20XX World Winter Games, hockey player Chu Yue becomes an online sensation thanks to a viral GIF. Everyone wants to know whether the poker-faced heartthrob has a girlfriend.

A reporter asks, "Chu Yue, people online are curious about your relationship status. Would you be willing to share?"

Chu Yue glances at Yu Miaomiao, who's interviewing one of his teammates nearby, and replies with a hint of jealousy, "My girlfriend and I are doing great, thank you."

After graduating from college, Xiao Jibai starts working at her family's company and sponsors Hong Yang, a little-known star.

After the laboratory explosion, she was one of the lucky ones who escaped unharmed. She spent the whole night having nightmares, watching her mother die in front of her again and again. The agonizing pain woke her in the early hours of the morning.

Outside, thunder and rain raged. Shadows from the trees danced against the window.

Now the dead Hong Yang stood there, bare-chested, treading on those black shadows.

Xiao Jibai sat on the edge of the bed and listened to him list his conditions. She smiled ominously. "Why should I help you?"

Hong Yang's eyes were half closed. Wounds like writhing worms covered his back. "I'll atone to you on behalf of my mother, Miss Xiao."

"Is that so?"

Xiao Jibai uncrossed her legs, pressed her pale foot down on the shadows, and grabbed Hong Yang by the cheeks, pulling him toward her. He hissed, his jaw tightening as he fought with all his might to suppress the urge to strike back.

Xiao Jibai took in his reaction, then let go and brought her index and middle fingers together to scratch his chin a few times.

"Darling, next time, you can throw the bomb at me."
